Curozone (USA) Inc, together with Professor Dr Edward Lynch and his team at Queens University, Belfast have developed this technology to treat dental caries, or tooth decay. The new technology uses the direct application of ozone to the tooth surface in a controlled manner through the use of the HealOzone Ozone Delivery hand piece. Up to now, there has been no way to eliminate decay, apart from mechanical amputation or removal. This is usually with the use of a dental drill, or chemically, such as the use of Carisolv. Incomplete removal of the decayed area of tooth can lead to failure of a filling or restoration. The use of dyes to highlight decayed areas can be used, but complete removal still can be a hit-and-miss affair.
Details of this exciting new technology are available on this www site, as well as practices that have invested in the HealOzone. Most practices have produced a special patient Information Brochure, giving potential patients as much information as possible. The alternative treatments are also detailed, so that patients can make up their own minds as to what sort of treatment they would like to have. The new technology uses the direct application of ozone to the tooth surface in a controlled manner through the use of the HealOzone Ozone Delivery hand piece.
